How to Use Connecticut History Online

You are invited to embark on a journey of discovery, to explore Connecticut's past from the beginning of the nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth century. Come and experience scenes from Connecticut's social, business, political, educational, cultural and civic life as revealed in a vast collection of images.

The multi-level search engine allows basic or refined searches by keyword, subject, place name, institution, date, creator, title, etc. Limiting by date and location is also available. Help screens are provided to assist you. The Browse section allows browsing images by subject, title, creator, and collection. Digital Geographic Locator provides a visual tool for locating images through a clickable map.

Journeys are intended to introduce you to specific collection highlights. Each journey will lead you through a series of images relating to a specific topic. Since journeys are intended as brief introductions, they may not include every image relating to a topic. At the end of your journey, you will find guideposts that will direct you if you decide to continue exploring a topic on your own.
