Additional information and images depicting natural disasters
in Connecticut are available in Connecticut History Online. If
you would like to continue your exploration of this topic, try

Perform a subject search for the various
natural disasters depicted. These searches would include "Blizzard,
1888," "Flood, 1936," "Hurricane, 1938,"
"Hurricane, 1944," and "Flood, 1955." You
will find all of the images related to these topics. Other general
subject terms, which may bring you more results, are "Blizzards,"
"Flood, 1927," "Flood damage," "Floods,"
"Hurricanes," "Snow," "Disaster relief,"
and "Buildings--Natural disaster effects."
Select an image in "The Eye of the Storm"
that is of particular interest to you. Go to the record for
this image. At the end of the record you will find a list of
subject headings. If you click on any of these headings it will
take you to other images of the same subject.
If you want to find natural disaster photographs
of a particular town or city in Connecticut, go to Search and
Browse Images and do a refined search. As an example, type in
the name of the town or city and choose "Place Name"
in the pull-down menu to the side. On the next line type in
the type of disaster you want information about, such as "Floods,"
and choose "Subject" in the pull-down menu.
You will find every photograph in the database
on floods in Hartford, Connecticut.
