If you wish to continue your exploration of the Connecticut
textile industry, you should find it fairly simple to locate additional
images. A keyword search for textile cotton
linen silk wool or for terms
like child labor will turn up lots of images of these
subjects.
You might also try going to Browse by Subject
and looking for the same terms. For example, if you go to T
and then to Textile, you will find a list that includes
Textile industry Textile machinery and
Textile workers. By clicking on any of these subject
headings you will be able to access all the records and view the
related images.
If you are looking for images of the textile industry
in a particular town, try a refined search for textile
and for the town in which youre interested. Enter textile
and select In any field from the drop-down menu. Click
on and, then enter the name of the town youre
looking for in next box. Select Place name from the
drop-down menu. This search should find all the images relating
to textiles from that town. If the name of your town consists
of more than one word (for example, New Hartford or East Windsor),
be sure to indicate that you want to search for these words as
a phrase.
If you are looking for images of the textile industry
from a particular period, you may want to limit your search by
date. Set the search limits before entering your search. You may
select a specific date or a range of dates. To find images from
the nineteenth century, select range and enter 1800
and 1899 in the two boxes. Then go back to the main
search page and construct your search.
