Dublin Core Definition:

The topic of the content of the resource.

12.1  Verify the name in OCLC Name Authority. If not found, check the sources in the following sequence:

  1. Browse the database to see if the heading has been created.
  2. Check LCSH.
  3. Use the reQuest catalog http://www.chs.org/library/request.htm
  4. Check other local catalogs.
  5. Check city directories or phone books.
  6. If an authoritative name is not found from the above sources, use the name in the photograph.
 12.2  Create the heading according to AACR2 rules and select "local" from the drop-down menu.

12.3  If the corporate name has changed and you know the corporation's current name or changed names, the cooperate name in the image or at the time of the photo was taken should be used for the subject heading. Other names should be noted in the notes.
