| Description | Striking illustrations of flowers, moss, leaves, and ferns created by a young woman named Eliza French using algae she found near New London, Connectiuct. On each page, French gives the scientific name of the algae used in the illustration and identifies where and when she found it. Much of the algae was found on the Thames River. |
