Description	Starboard view of four-masted schooner Clara Davis, probably at launching. Printed on card at bottom: "Schooner Clara Davis, of Somerset,Mass./Launched at Mystic, Conn., Oct. 2, 1905./Length 178-8. Breadth 38-6 Depth 13-6. Net 544. Gross 680./C.A. Davis, Agent. W. J. Baker, Builder."
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Shipbuilder Michael B. McDonald had worked in Madison, New London and Noank before launching M. B. McDonald & Sons at Pistol Point in Mystic, which he operated from 1903 to 1905. The firm built ten coasting schooners and a barge in this time period before going into bankruptcy in 1905. Clara Davis was one of three schooners under construction by M. B. McDonald when his firm went bankrupt. She was completed under the supervision of W. J. (William J.) Baker. Clara Davis was interned in Italy during World War I, had a series of European owners, and was broken up in 1938. George E. Tingley was a noted Mystic area photographer. In his early career, he was an assistant and later sometime partner of Everett A. Scholfield. After 1894 he worked independently.
