Description	Port view of a Navy cruiser identified as the USS Columbia in New London, probably on the Thames River. Another naval vessel can be seen to the left.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Columbia was built in Philadelphia and commissioned in 1894. She served in the Spanish American War and was part of the Atlantic Training Squadron for a period beginning in November 1903. Her powerful engines made her expensive to operate, and she was frequently out of commission, though she was in active service during World War I. She was finally decommissioned in 1921. Identified as circa 1900, but probably taken while she was commissioned in the late 1890's or circa 1903.
