Description	View of a railroad ferry identified as the Thames River at Noank. "T.R." can be seen on her hull. View is from the land looking out past waterfront structures toward the water. Other vessels can be seen in the background.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Thames River was built in Greenpoint, New York in 1871. She shared with the ferry Groton the task of transporting rail cars across the Thames, connecting two coastal rail lines before the construction of a New London-Groton railroad bridge in 1889. Thames River was in service to the New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad until 1909. Taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913.
