Description	Bows-on view from a tow vessel of an unidentified oyster barge being towed, with nine men on deck. In the background are the houseboat-type oyster steamers Supervisor, Jeremiah Smith and City Point, rafted.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. City Point was built in Stratford, 1886. Her former name was the Mikado. City Point's home port was New Haven and her dimensions were 55.6 x 18.6 x 5.7 feet. Jeremiah Smith was built in West Haven, 1885. Her dimensions were 86.2 x 22.8 x 7.2 feet. Supervisor was built in Northport, New York, 1906. Oystering was an important Connecticut industry in the 19th and 20th centuries. New Haven and South Norwalk were among the centers of local and regional cultivation and harvesting. The peak period was 1885-1910.
