is
the
Blossom
up
on the
ways
. The
ways/
is
a
large
platform
which
is
pulled
down
into/
the
water
by
means
of the
heavy
chains
.
The/
boat
is
then
pushed
upon
the
warp
and
blocked/
up
while
still
floating
. Then the
ways
are/
pulled
out
of the
water
. This
is
accomplished/
by
means
of a
steam
engine
. The
vessel
looks/
small
because
she
is
upon
such
large
ways
.
The/way
would
easily
accomodate
an
ocean
liner
.
It/
was
while
she was in this
shape
that the
hull/
was
coppered
and an
addition
made
to the
keel./
The
deel
[sic]
was
only
8
inches
deep
;
now
it
is
16/
inches
deep
and
12
inches
wide.

. She was
purchased

Cleveland
Museum
of
Natural
History
with
funds
from a
Mrs
.
Blossom
and
made
a
voyage
to the
Indian
Ocean
to
gather
ornithological
specimens
.
Blossom
was
fitted
out
in
New
London
and
sailed
out
of that
port
circa
1923
.

apparently
documents
period
of the
conversion
of the
Lucy
R
. to the
Blossom
with
photographs
taken
in
New
London
,
based
on
identification
of
related
images
.
