Description	Port bow view of whaling vessels rafted together at a wharf. In the left foreground is the schooner Margarett and catboat. "MARGARETT" is visible on the schooner's bow. In the background is the whaling bark Andrew Hicks, with sails furled and whaleboats removed from davits. The masts of the bark Bertha are also visible.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Margarett was the last whaler out of the port of New London. She was owned by George R. Harris of Norwich and manned largely by Norwich men. Fitted out in New London, she departed September 24, 1908 under the command of Captain James W. Buddington of Groton. The Margarett also made the last whaling voyage from New London County in 1910. Built in Essex, Massachusetts, she was abandoned 1926 at Brava, Cape Verde Islands after years of service as a New Bedford whaler. The bark Andrew Hicks was built in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, 1867. She was lost off Cape Henry, Virginia, December 8, 1917. The bark Bertha was built in New Bedford, Massachusetts, 1877. She was lost off Cape Verde, Africa, April 23, 1918.
