Description	Ranks of men in uniform, interspersed with soldiers on horseback, fill Main Street. The men in the foreground hold drums. A man, probably the Governor, stands in an open carriage drawn by four horses at the left. A band is behind him. Spectators crowd the sidewalks. Some women use umbrellas as parasols. American flags hang from wires across the street and fly from flagpoles. One building is draped with streamers. Some commercial buildings have striped awnings. A clock is on the sidewalk. A sign on a lamppost reads "Cigars." The gothic tower of Christ Church is in the background. Letterpress text beneath image: "Connecticut - Inauguration of Governor Ingersoll - The Grand Parade in Hartford - From a Sketch by H.A. Ogden."<br>
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. <br>The parade included the First and Second Regiments of the Connecticut National Guard, two companies of the Governor's Foot Guard and two companies of the Governor's Horse Guard. <br>
