Description	Port bow view of houseboat-type oyster steamer Wm. M. Merwin tied up to a pier. An unidentified oyster steamer can be seen behind her, and the bow of an unidentified vessel is visible at the left.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Wm. M. Merwin was built in Milford, 1885. Her dimensions were 56.8 x 16.5 x 4.9 feet. Location of the photograph is unknown. Oystering was an important Connecticut industry in the 19th and 20th centuries. New Haven and South Norwalk were among the centers of local and regional cultivation and harvesting. The peak period was 1885-1910.
