Description	View looking down an unpaved street toward a railroad overpass. Buildings can be seen on either side of the street. Pedestrians are visible on the left.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Handwritten on back: "West Main St/ Westerly R.I" This appears to be an error. An identical image (1981.39.2) and other sources indicate that the view is of West Broad Street, Pawcatuck, looking west under the railroad overpass, ca. 1865. Rubber stamped on reverse: "E.A. Scholfield Pho./ Westerly R.I." Everett A. Scholfield was a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913. His father had established a photography business in Westerly after retiring from the textile industry. Everett Scholfield grew up in the Westerly area and lived in Mystic for much of his adult life. At several points in his career he worked in partnership with family members, with a studio in Westerly, Rhode Island. Mounted on yellow card, square corners. 3 11/16 x 6 11/16.
