Description	View of buildings and businesses at the foot of an unpaved road identified as Main Street, Noank, looking east toward the Mystic River and opposite shore. A banner advertising "ICE CREAM" hangs in front of a building at the far left. At the foot of the street to the left is the Spicer store. Signs on the building read: "PAINT SHOP', "GROCERIES", "PROVISIONS". The small building to the right has a sign reading "FISH MARKET". In front of it, in the middle distance, is an old blacksmith's bellows. To the right of the fish market is the Latham store. There is a carved eagle on the gable above the second floor. At far right is the T.H. Newbury & Co. store. Signs on the building advertise tin, copper and sheet iron workers, stove and ranges, and house and ship plumbing. Several boys can be seen in front of the Newbury store.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913. The eagle on the Latham store has been attributed to James Campbell of Mystic. The Newbury store was a branch store, established in 1876, of T.H. Newbury of Mystic.
