Description	Bow view of the four-masted schooner Charles E. Wilbur at the M.B. McDonald yard, Pistol Point. She is described as under construction, but is dressed with flags and possibly being readied for launching. Another vessel under construction can be seen at left. People can be seen on either side of the vessels.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Handwritten in pen on back "Robt C. Northam/ Mystic,Conn." The Charles E. Wilbur was a "bald headed" (no topmasts) schooner launched in 1904. She and her sister ship Quinnebaug were lost off Cape Hatteras, possibly in a collision, during the Charles E. Wilbur's maiden voyage. She was carrying a cargo of hard pine back to Mystic from Georgia. Shipbuilder Michael B. McDonald had worked in Madison, New London and Noank before launching M.B. McDonald & Sons on Pistol Point in Mystic, which he operated from 1903 to 1905. The firm built ten coasting schooners and a barge in this time period before going into bankruptcy in 1905. The losses of two McDonald-built vessels not long after their launchings may have played a part in the company's financial troubles. Mounted on gray card with beveled edges, 5 1/2 x 6 1/2 in.
