Description	Bow view of the steamship Berea (or Bearea) being launched from Groton Iron Works. Vessels under construction can be seen on either side of the steamship. A wood building is visible to the left. A crowd of men, women and children can be seen in the foreground. In ink, lower right: "Launching of the 'Berea'./Groton Iron Works, Noank,/Sept 7, 1918."
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Spelled Bearea in some sources. Groton Iron Works had its main yard on the Thames in Groton and a second yard on the site of the former Palmer shipyard in Noank. It built a number of iron and wood-hulled vessels during and after World War I. The Noank yard ceased production in 1919. The Groton yard continued until 1928. Mounted on board.
