Description	View of the junction of East Main Street and Broadway, Mystic, looking northwest. The Civil War Soldiers' Monument and Mystic Congregational Church can be seen at center. Trees line the unpaved roads, and houses are partially visible on Broadway and East Main Street.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Handwritten on back: "Soldiers' and Sailors' [sic] Monument E. Main St. Mystic/ Gift of Mrs. [sic?] Chas. H. Mallory - 1883" The Civil War Soldiers' monument was the gift of Charles Henry Mallory of Mystic and New York. The June 13, 1883 dedication was marred by a series of mishaps. Printed on card at bottom: "Tingley, Mystic, Conn." George E. Tingley was a noted Mystic area photographer. In his early career, he was an assistant and later sometime partner of Everett A. Scholfield. After 1894 he worked independently. Tentative date range based on chronology of Tingley's career and absence of trolley tracks. Boudoir-sized photograph mounted on white card with gold beveled edges, 5 1/4 x 8 1/2 in.
