Description	Port bow view, including masts and rigging, of the three-masted schooner Blossom at dock in the Thames River.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Caption typed in blue ink below reads: "Another view of Blossom. Notice the/ signs fastened to the shrouds on the fore-/ mast (Shroud = ladder like structure -- really/ cable stays for strengthening). Just above/ the sign you see a box like effect this to/ hold the side light. The one on this side/ (Port) will be the color of Port wine-red./ The starboard light is green." Blossom was also known as Lucy R. and Three Brothers. She was a commercial packet schooner formerly the Lucy R. of Nova Scotia. She was purchased by the Cleveland Museum of Natural History with funds from a Mrs. Blossom and made a voyage to the Indian Ocean to gather ornithological specimens. Blossom was fitted out in New London and sailed out of that port circa 1923. In schoolbook writing pad converted to photo album described as "The beginning of the good ship/ BLOSSOM - Adventure/ Photos made by W. Kenneth Cyler/ about 1923." Album apparently documents period of the conversion of the Lucy R. to the Blossom with photographs taken in New London, based on identification of related images. Good condition, yellow and wrinkled from glue.
