Description	View looking northwest toward the Captain Joseph Warren Holmes House at the intersection of High Steet and New London Road, Mystic. The house has an octagonal cupola, three chimneys and two porches visible. An iron fence stands between the yard and sidewalk, curving around the street corner. Union Baptist Church is partially visible in the right background. An urn stands in the yard at the far left.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Joseph Warren Holmes was born in Mystic. In his more than fifty-year career of commanding clipper ships and others, he did not lose a single vessel or man. He sailed around Cape Horn 84 times and the Cape of Good Hope fourteen times, possibly a record. The urn was originally brought to Mystic in 1867 by Captain Holmes, and is now in the Mystic Seaport collection (1986.36). Taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in the Mystic and Old New London area 1865-1910.
