Description	View of a two-story building with pitched roof on the northeast corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, Mystic. Sign over the doorway reads: "BOOK/STORE/ PRESS/ PRINTING/ OFFICE". A stairway on the Pearl Street side leads up to the second floor. A horse and carriage are visible to the right of the storefront on West Main Street. Water behind a stone wall and crude wood fence can be seen in the foreground.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The building depicted was occupied at this time by the Mystic Press, which succeeded two earlier newspapers, the Mystic Pioneer (1853) and the Mystic Journal (1870). Lucius M. Guernsey established the Mystic Press in February 1873. The business occupied the building at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets until 1881, when it moved to Ryan's building, otherwise known as the Riverside Block, at the east end of West Main Street next to the highway bridge. Taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913.
