St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church is visible in the left background. Trolley tracks curve to the left of the monument on unpaved East Main Street.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Civil War Soldiers' monument was the gift of Charles Henry Mallory of Mystic and New York. The June 13, 1883 dedication was marred by a series of mishaps. The St. Patrick's congregation was originally housed in a church building on Church Street that was purchased from the Methodists in 1870. The present structure, seen here, was dedicated in 1909.
