Description	A group of teachers and students stand in front of a one-room schoolhouse identified as the Boardman School, Griswold. People are identified as: back row, 6th & 7th from left, Carolyn and Florence Young; front row, 5th & 7th from left, Frank and Lucy Young, 8th from left, Sophie Rice.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The schoolhouse, which may date from pre-Revolutionary times, was originally in a district of Preston that became part of the newly incorporated town of Griswold in 1815. It was located in Glasgo (Griswold) and was moved to Mystic Seaport in 1949. Handwritten in pencil on back: "dear Erica from a dear friend -once a teacher - Etta Copeland. Please write to me. Direct to Ashford, Ct." Questions exist regarding the date. Physical aspects of the schoolhouse seem to place the photograph in the 1887-1894 time period. It has also been identified as 1908 by a former student (duplicate image 1984.169). Albumen print, 5 1/2 x 4 1/8 in., mounted on black card, gray on back.
