Description	Bow view of an unidentified bark being rigged at Mystic Iron Works at Pistol Point, Mystic. View is looking south, down the Mystic River. Scaffolding for a shipcarver can be seen under her figurehead. Pine Hill on Masons Island is visible to the left of the vessel.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Mystic Iron Works, 1862-1873, manufactured and fitted engines and boilers for vessels. Its boom period was during and immediately after the Civil War when it fitted and refitted a number of vessels. The company also built one vessel, the iron-hulled screw towboat Montaines. The bark is possibly the Caleb Haley, Coldstream, Galveston or Mary E. Packer, all Mystic-built. Pine Hill was on the north end of Masons Island, and was reduced by quarrying by the end of the nineteenth century. Probably taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913. Appears to have been produced from stereo negative (1965.859.14) attributed to Scholfield.
