Description	View of the corner of Water and Wall Streets, Stonington Borough, looking southeast. The Amos Sheffield House is in the center. A double stairway leads to a center doorway, in front of which a woman is standing. What appears to be a central chimney can be seen at the roofline. Visible to the right is a building fronted with classical columns supporting an overhang, identified as the Arcade.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Amos Sheffield House was built in 1765 by a successful Stonington merchant. It is considered a fine example of Early Georgian domestic architecture. The house is said to have been raised to accommodate basement shops at some later date. The Arcade was built in 1830 as a commercial structure. It housed shops well into the twentieth century.
