Co
.,
1865
. She was
originally
a
medium
clipper
ship
in the
California
trade
,
sailing
out
of
New
York
.
Joseph
Warren
Holmes
of
Mystic
commanded
her
during
some
of this
period
. In the
late
1880's
and
1890's
, she was a
bark
working
on the
West
Coast
,
active
in the
lumber
trade
.
Seminole
later
became
a
storage
hulk
at
Port
Adelaide
,
Australia
.
Maxson
,
Fish
&
Co
. was
established
in
1853
by
William
Ellery
Maxson
and
Nathan
G
.
Fish
of
Mystic
,
together
with
other
partners
. The
yard
was
located
in
West
Mystic
. The
business
went
bankrupt
in
1870
,
soon
after
Fish's
death
.
