Description	View of a large gambrel-roofed house with what appears to be a central chimney, identified as the Solomon Tift house. A gambrel-roofed ell extends forward from the house on the left. Siding appears to be clapboards. A picket fence can be seen in front of the dwelling.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Handwritten on back: "Solomon Tift lived for many years in this house & died there at the age of 93 [?] years. He was a Soldier of the revolution fought in the battle of "Groton Heights" was taken prisoner and transferred to the old prison ship "Jersey" suffering untold cruelties". Possibly of some relation to the Tift family of Mystic and Tifton, Georgia. Printed in gold on card at bottom: "Tingley, Mystic, Conn." George E. Tingley was a noted Mystic area photographer. In his early career, he was an assistant and later sometime partner of Everett A. Scholfield. After 1894 he worked independently. Tentative date range based on chronology of Tingley's career and comparison with other images. Boudoir-sized photograph mounted on white card with gold beveled edges, 5 1/4 x 8 1/2 in. Photo stained, card broken on bottom.
