Description	Men and women in Portuguese costume are dancing in a parade that is part of the Blessing of the Fleet ceremony for the Stonington fishing fleet. The dancers are arranged in a circle, men and women alternating. A group of musicians appears to be playing on the side of the street. Spectators can be seen in the background.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Based in Stonington Borough, the Stonington fleet is the only remaining commercial fishing fleet in Connecticut. Fishing has been a mainstay of the community's economy since the eighteenth century. In earlier years, whaling, sealing and cod fishing supported area residents. The present fishing fleet pursues a diversified approach not dependent on a single type of catch. The Blessing of the Fleet takes place annually. Dated August 1995.
