Description	View of a large building, industrial in appearance, identified as Groton Iron Works, where sea sleds (Hickman) were built. What may be a marine railway can be seen in the foreground.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Handwritten on back in pencil: "Plant at Groton, Conn. where the outboard Mod.../are built. The Hickman Sea Sled Co. of West Mystic and Groton manufactured over 6,000 boats in the period 1925-1934 using the innovations in hull and propeller design developed by Albert Hickman. Sources identify the locations of both the Hickman Groton plant and Groton Iron Works as the present site of Pfizer. Groton Iron Works had its main yard on the Thames in Groton and a second yard on the site of the former Palmer shipyard in Noank. It built a number of iron and wood-hulled vessels during and after World War I. The Noank yard ceased production in 1919. The Groton yard continued until 1928.
