Description	Starboard view of bark George Moon at dock in Almeria, Spain 1888. Sails are drying.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The George Moon was the last square-rigged vessel built in Mystic. She was built by Hill and Grinnell, 1874, named for a New York fish merchant and Mystic native, and owned by J. D. [James Dean] Fish & Co. of New York. In 1883 she was damaged in the "great Java earthquake." About 1889 she was converted into a schooner barge and by 1920, she was a sloop rigged barge. Hill & Grinnell, a partnership of Mason Crary Hill and Amos Grinnell, was in business from 1860-1874. The firm's Pistol Point shipbuilding yard was active from 1864-1874. The George Moon was the last Hill & Grinnell vessel. Photo is badly foxed.
