Description	View looking up the Mystic River of three coasting schooners moored off the I.D. Holmes & Co. coal wharf on Holmes Street. Witch Hazel and Caroline Butler are loaded with lumber, and are rafted together on the left. The schooner Dart can be seen at right. Behind Dart, Mystic Manufacturing Company is visible in the distance.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Caroline Butler was built in New London, 1890, Witch Hazel in Bath, Maine, 1872; Dart was built in 1837 at New York, New York. The three schooners are described as New London coasting schooners. Probably photographed by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913. Coal predominated as a fuel for cooking and heating in the second half of the nineteenth century in Mystic.
