Description	A man identified as George H. Greenman stands with his family in front of the George Greenman house on Greenmanville Avenue, Mystic. Two of the women sit in rocking chairs. George Greenman stands behind them between two other women. A window can be seen to the left. Behind the group the porch is partially visible.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. George H. Greenman was the son of George Greenman, who earlier in the nineteenth century formed the George Greenman & Co. shipbuilding business with his two younger brothers, Clark and Thomas. In addition to that enterprise, the Greenmans owned in whole or part the Greenmanville Manufacturing Company (later the Mystic Manufacturing Company) producing woolen and other textiles, and the Standard Machine Company. The area along the Mystic River on the Stonington side north of downtown Mystic was known as Greenmanville. Three of the Greenman brothers, including George (father of George H.), lived and had their shipyard and mill in this area in the nineteenth century. Their houses are on the west side of Greenmanville Avenue, and are now part of Mystic Seaport. One of the women may be Greenman's daughter Mary Greenman Davis. Photo is dated June 10, 1899. Mounted on card, 5 3/8 x 6 3/8 in. Some scratches and foxing.
