Description	Starboard view of submarine tender USS Bushnell at New London, probably at the submarine base located in Groton. Governors and families aboard are viewing demonstrations of the "Momsen lung" a submarine escape device.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Bushnell was built in Seattle in 1915 and was active in World War I. She served on the east coast until 1931, and renamed the Sumner, was also active in World War II. The "Momsen Lung" was a submarine escape breathing apparatus developed in the period 1929-1932 and named for one of its developers, then U.S. Navy Lieutenant Charles Bowers Momsen.
