Description	Oval portrait of a woman believed to be Abby Chipman Greenman of Mystic. She is seen in bust view, and wears a dark dress with white lace collar. Her hair is parted in the middle and pulled back.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Abigail Chipman Greenman (1806-1887) was the wife of George Greenman of Mystic. Second oldest of four brothers, George Greenman formed George Greenman & Co. with his two younger brothers, Clark and Thomas. In addition to the shipbuilding business, the Greenmans owned in whole or part the Greenmanville Manufacturing Company (later the Mystic Manufacturing Company) producing woolen and other textiles, and the Standard Machine Company. The Greenman families lived and worked in an area of Mystic that came to be known as Greenmanville. On mount in gold: 'BISHOP & KENYON, 59 STATE ST. NEW LONDON, CONN." On mount 10 x 8 in., in dark wood oval frame, 11 3/4 x 8 5/8 in.
