Description	Ellery Thompson is purchasing art supplies at the Maxwelton Company in Mystic. The man behind the counter appears to be reaching up to one of the shelves on the wall behind him, where the supplies are arranged. Other items can be seen on the counter. Two of Thompson's paintings are displayed above the shelves.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Mystic-born Ellery Thompson was a fisherman, artist and writer. He captained draggers out of Stonington for a number of years. Thompson was a local celebrity, noted for his paintings, storytelling and writings, which included Draggerman's Haul (1950) a memoir of his maritime adventures. The Maxwelton Company art supplies store was on West Main Street, Mystic.
