Description	Starboard view of a converted William Phinney catboat with a painted rendition of a concept for a cabin top. She is under way, possibly on the Connecticut River. A man and woman can be seen in the stern. What appears to be the head of a boy or young man in visible through an opening in the painted cabin rendition.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Dated circa 1945-1946. Joseph M. W. Nourse purchased the Phinney catboat hull from C. E. French Boat Yard in Devon circa 1937 and installed an inboard 22 horsepower Gray marine engine. It sank in the 1938 hurricane, was salvaged and underwent later modifications. The Nourse family cruised in the boat on the Housatonic River and in Long Island Sound to Charles Island off Milford in the pre-World War II period, and in the Connecticut River in the postwar period. From 1945 to 1947-48 it was moored off the town dock in Wethersfield. The rendition was designed and painted by Joseph M. W. Nourse.
