Description	View of Immanuel Baptist Church at the corner of Chapel and Day Streets, Dwight Project area, New Haven. The entrance of the wood church building appears to be on the gable end facing Chapel Street. A low steeple can be seen projecting from the roof above and to the right. Another doorway is visible on the Day Street side. The windows are Gothic in style and appear to be stained glass.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. One of a collection of photographs taken by the New Haven Redevelopment Agency to document a massive urban planning and development project undertaken from 1956 through the mid-1970s. The federally-financed redevelopment initiative was realized through a series of projects focused on particular New Haven city neighborhoods identified by street or area names. These projects involved the demolition of old structures and construction of new buildings, roadways and other facilities. The Dwight Street redevelopment area was comprised of the residential neighborhood bounded by Whalley and Legion Avenues. Redevelopment efforts in this project area focused on new or rehabilitated housing and schools.
