Description	View of Galvin's Auto Parts Co., Inc. Wooster Square project area, New Haven. The business occupies the ground floor of a building that appears to be be both residential and commercial. A sign on the side of the storefront advertises Champion spark plugs. The location is identified as the site of Paul Coppola's Housing, before redevelopment, southeast corner of Wooster and Chestnut Streets, but the building does not appear to be sited on a street corner.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. One of a collection of photographs taken by the New Haven Redevelopment Agency to document a massive urban planning and development project undertaken from 1956 through the mid-1970s. The federally-financed redevelopment initiative was realized through a series of projects focused on particular New Haven city neighborhoods identified by street or area names. These projects involved the demolition of old structures and construction of new buildings, roadways and other facilities. The Wooster Square project targeted an old New Haven neighborhood with many lovely nineteenth-century houses as well as multi-family dwellings and industrial buildings. The construction of Interstates 95 and 91 and redevelopment initiatives swallowed up a number of buildings. Many others were refurbished as part of an effort to preserve the architectural heritage and character of the neighborhood. What may be the same housing development is variously identifed as Cappola Courts, Coppola Apartments (at 117 Wooster Street), and Paul Coppola's Housing. Another image identified as the southeast corner of Chestnut and Wooster depicts a different building.
