Description	View looking toward Chapel Street and New Haven Green of two buildings under construction, New Haven. The steeple of Central Church is visible between the buildings. Men can be seen working on the building to the right. Lettering on some of the girders reads: "SCHACHT STEEL". A crane with "P & H" painted on the side of the cab is partially visible on the street side of the buildings.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. One of a collection of photographs taken by the New Haven Redevelopment Agency to document a massive urban planning and development project undertaken from 1956 through the mid-1970s. The federally-financed redevelopment initiative was realized through a series of projects focused on particular New Haven city neighborhoods identified by street or area names. These projects involved the demolition of old structures and construction of new buildings, roadways and other facilities. Construction depicted was part of the Church Street redevelopment project. Much of the area involved in that project had been characterized by a mix of small stores, restaurants, theaters and residences. As part of redevelopment, whole blocks were demolished to make way for larger modern structures such as department stores, hotels, office buildings, the New Haven Coliseum, and the Chapel Square Mall, at 900 Chapel Street. The buildings being constructed may be an office building and hotel that were part of the mall complex.
