Description	Bird's-eye view of a section of Plainfield, flanked by the villages of Uniondale and Almyville. Industrial buildings include the factories of the Union Mill (of H.L. Aldrich & Son) and Aldrich and Milner's Woolen Mills. The Moosup River is dammed just before Floyd Cranska's Thread Mills, where an iron bridge connects River Street to Main Street. Businesses include A.B. Sprague's Sale, Exchange, and Livery Stable and Carriage Repository -- C.R. Johnson, Pool Room & Barber Shop -- C.F. Holmes, Bakery -- Salisbury Bros., General Merchandise -- William Bros., Blacksmith Shop -- Hill & Hyde, Meat and Vegetable Market -- G.M. Denison & Son, Undertaking and Furniture -- J.G. Miller & Co., Dry Goods, Groceries and Shoe Store -- and Tabor & Kenyon, General Merchandise. Churches include the Roman Catholic Church, the Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Baptist Church. Other buildings include the Public School -- Aldrich & Milner's Hall -- and mill housing along Main Street. The New York and New England Railroad line passes through town on a trestle and a covered bridge across the Moosup River. There is a railroad station at Union Street and a loading depot for the train at Aldrich & Milner's Woolen Mills.
