Marine
Construction
Company
of
Stamford
was
founded
in
1908
by
Alfred

Luders

Sr
. His
son
,
Alfred
E
.
Luders
,
Jr
., a
boat
designer
and
racer
,
later
became
director
, and
managed
the
company
until
closing
it
in
1968
. The
firm
built
wooden
vessels
,
including
custom
yachts
and the
1962
America's
Cup
defender
Weatherly
, as
well
as the
Luders
16
racing
sailboat
.
During
World
War
II
,
Luders
produced
subchasers
,
minesweepers
and
harbor
tugs
for the
Navy
.
Taken
by
Rosenfeld
and
Sons
.
Morris
Rosenfeld
founded
the
New
York
City-based
photography
business
in
1910
. He was a
prolific
photographer
particularly
noted
for
coverage
of
yachting
and
other
maritime
subjects
. His
sons
Stanley
,
David
and
Bill
were also
active
in the
profession
and the
family
firm
.
