Description	Bird's-eye view of the Robert Palmer shipyard, Noank, from the east. Launching ways can be see on the right, and a marine railway and sawmill complex on the left. The company store is visible behind the ways in the center of the picture. Barges and schooner barges are shown under construction. In the right background a trolley runs along the rails of the Groton and Stonington Electric Railway. To its right, a New York, New Haven and Hartford train can be seen headed toward Groton. Notes	Not drawn to scale. Title supplied by cataloger. Date range determined by opening of trolley line and end of Palmer shipyard operations. Sources list variant names for the trolley company. The Palmer family's shipbuilding and repair facility, in operation from the mid-19th century until 1914, was one of the most prominent on the east coast. It was incorporated under several names and experienced substantial growth in the second half of the 19th century, specializing in the production of utilitarian barges and floats.
