Description	Four men stand on wooden scaffolding beside a dilapidated two-story frame house with a stone foundation and retaining wall with stairs. The men wear overalls and broad-brimmed hats. A ladder and two sawhorses are on the scaffolding. A fifth man stands on the ground near a pile of wood. A fence, a bush and trees are at the left. A barn or shed is at the far right. A grassy lawn is in the foreground. Inscribed on back: "This is a view from the east of the Rev. / Samuel Moseley House in Hampton, Windham Co., Ct. It still / stands at a fork in the road between Rt. 97 (Hampton St.) & / Hammond Hill Road. The work men are beginning to build the porches that eventually wrapped around the house about 1895-1900. / I later tore those porches off & saved the house. / In Rev. Moseley's will of the 1790s, Don Cadd / Samuel Moseley voted his daughters Sarah Steward, wife of / Rev. Joseph Steward, and the Stewards were living in this / house & very likely Joseph Steward was painting here before his / removal to Hartford. With the Moseley will was a great / inventory (on file in Hampton Town Hall.)"<br>
