Description	Six men are at work in the interior of a large stonecutting shop. All appear to be wearing aprons, shirts, and vests. Two men wear derby hats. Some men have mustaches. The man in the foreground is at work on a Civil War monument, possibly a plaster cast or model, using a copying device similar to a pantograph. Another Civil War monument is at the left. Other statues are of women in classical dress, some with children. A bas-relief of a man on horseback is above the window in the background. Wooden rafters are overhead.
Notes	Title is printed beneath the image. Inscribed on back: "New England Granite Works. / Interior View. Hartford and Vicinity / A-B." James G. Batterson's stonecutting shop, known as Batterson, Canfield & Co. and later as the New England Granite Works, was responsible for many Civil War monuments throughout the United States.
