Description	View looking north on Church Street toward the intersection with George Street, apparently in the Church Street Project area, New Haven. A building on the northeast corner of the intersection appears to be in the process of demoliton; a crane is partially visible. Signs on the George Street side of the building at the first floor level read in part: "Carson's/RESTAURANT" and FRY'S/LOAN". A sign to the left, apparently overhanging the Church Street sidewalk, reads in part: "BARNUM LUMBE[R] CO./BUILDING WRECKERS". Pedestrians can be seen on the sidewalk. Cars are visible on Church Street and in a dirt lot to the right. A bus and truck can also be seen on the street. What appears to be the Downtown Shopping Triangle building is partially visible at far right. A multi-story building can be seen on the west side of Church Street in the left background. A sign painted near the roof of the building reads: "The FIRST NEW HAVEN/NATIONAL BANK".
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. One of a collection of photographs taken by the New Haven Redevelopment Agency to document a massive urban planning and development project undertaken from 1956 through the mid-1970s. The federally-financed redevelopment initiative was realized through a series of projects focused on particular New Haven city neighborhoods identified by street or area names. These projects involved the demolition of old structures and construction of new buildings, roadways and other facilities. Much of the Church Street project area had been characterized by a mix of small stores, restaurants, theaters and residences. In the course of redevelopment, whole blocks were demolished to make way for larger modern structures such as department stores, hotels, office buildings, a mall and the New Haven Coliseum.
