Description	A partially completed elevated highway with metal guardrails appears to be supported on concrete piers on the right and on an embankment at the left. The Bulkeley Bridge and a flood control dike are visible at left. A building with a shingled roof is in the left foreground. Automobiles are parked beneath the highway and in a parking lot at the right. The smokestacks of the Hartford Electric Light Company power plant at Dutch Point are in the center with a wooden coal conveyor extending across the highway. The Colt factory with its onion dome is visible in the left background. The Connecticut River and the East Hartford shore are visible in the left background. Inscribed in margin on front: "Colts", "1945". Inscribed on back: "Dutch Point - Highway
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger.<br>This panoramic view is composed of four seperate photographs.<br>The highway section near Dutch Point was often referred to as the Dike Highway, as it ran past and on the flood control dike along the Connecticut River. It later became I-91.<br>A coal conveyor was used to move coal from one location to another. A loaded railroad hopper car would stop and dump their load of coal into a bin beneath the tracks, from where the coal would be carried up across the highway to the generating plant.
