Description	Three-story brick and brownstone building with a domed cupola with a clock and a sculpture of an allegorical figure of justice on top with ornamental urns decorating the balustrade that surround the roof. A sign above the door reads: "HARTFORD [Red Cross] PRODUCTION. A pavilion with what appears to be a tile roof serves as a bus station at the left. Buses and automobiles are in the street. A lamp post is at the left, near the Isle of Safety. Men and women are crossing the street in a crosswalk, part of which appears to be roped off. A large skyscraper is in the right background. Some leafless tress are visible. Typewritten on back: The old [sic] State House, safty [sic] island / at Main and Asylum Streets. Hartford / Conn."
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger.<br>Charles W. Ainsworth took this photograph while serving in the Army Recruiting Station in Hartford during World War II.<br>The Old State House was erected in 1796 to the designs of Charles Bulfinch. It served as the State Capitol until 1878 and as Hartford's city hall until 1915.
