Description	View of Middletown. A farm, probably a tobacco farm, and the Connecticut River are in the foreground. There is a rail fence in the bottom right corner next to a field of what are probably tobacco plants. There are several sheds in which tobacco may be drying, a house, which is fenced-in, and what may be an outhouse. Several men are loading horse-drawn wagons. A dirt road and a covered bridge are on the left side. Sailing vessels, steamboats, and one canoe are on the river. The white building with an adjacent tower to the left is probably Wesleyan University. In the middle of town, on the edge of the river, a sailing vessel is under construction.
