Description	Four Inuit pose inside the deckhouse on board the whaling schooner Era, Repulse Bay, Hudson Bay, January 24, 1902. They are identified as "a family of Nectchellic." At least one of the group appears to be a child.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger.<br>Information from original envelope identifies this as Photo 76, #86. Number 86 is etched into emulsion on lower part of plate.<br>The "Nectchellic" referred to resided in the territory northwest of the principal American whaling grounds; they are more accurately identified as the Netsilik.<br>Taken by Captain George Comer (1858-1937), a sealer and whaling captain from East Haddam. He went to sea while still in his teens and was later master of vessels from both New London and New Bedford, including the Era. Comer participated in voyages involved in polar expeditions and was noted for his studies of Arctic peoples and their environment.
