Description	Printed form, completed in manuscript, in which men agree to serve in the United States Navy. The list of men includes the enlistment date, the man's signature, the name of the recruit written by the officer, the rating or rank, wages per month, and one column entitled 'signature of sureties" and in this column, the word contraband is written for all the men. Contraband were freed slaves.
Notes	Only Richard Daly, the first man on this list, was able to sign his name. The other men on this list were Joseph and Henry Barnett, Jacob Earl, Henry and David Pyles, Cyrus Parkman, Amos, Primus, Isaiah and Robert Cliets, Philip and James Waterson, Joseph King, Henry Humphries, George Davis, Henry Johnson, Samson Freeman, Pleasant Willey, Moses, Dennis, Calvin, Cato and Joseph Crawford, James Ward, Thomas, Henry and Anderson Adams,and John S. Williams. All of the men were ranked as cabin boys. This document probably came into the possession of Sherman W. Adams, who served as Acting Assistant Paymaster for the United States Navy during the Civil War, and who then donated these and other documents.
